2027 marks the 250th anniversary of Heinrich von Kleist’s birth. Numerous organisations in Frankfurt (Oder) – the poet’s birthplace and the city where he studied – as well as in Berlin and many other locations across Germany are marking this anniversary with a diverse programme exploring Kleist’s life, his work, its themes and contexts, and how his work has been received.
Under the motto ‘Kreuzungen – Intersections. 250 – Kleist’, anyone organising public events on Heinrich von Kleist during the anniversary year is invited to become part of the wider anniversary network. The theme also reflects the diversity of the programme and the various perspectives from which Kleist will be explored during the anniversary year.
From readings and exhibitions to theatre, music and academic events, right through to participatory projects and new formats: The anniversary year aims to invite people to rediscover Kleist from different angles and to forge links between the past and the present, between literature, art and the sciences, as well as between different places and participants.
The anniversary website showcases these diverse activities and creates space for networking. Events from Frankfurt (Oder) and other cities and regions in Germany and Poland are brought together under the shared anniversary theme and presented as part of a cross-border programme.
Discover the anniversary programme, get to know the participants, or become part of the network yourself by contributing your own events.
